About Us
We combine heart-centred warm water, sound and movement journey with a transpersonal approach to connect you to your inner-self.
Founded by Anika Gunawan & Nathania Lubis; Muara is a meeting point for transition & transformation. It is the Indonesian word for estuary, a place where all rivers and the ocean converge— a transition zone between land and sea.
As facilitators we are passionate about curating safe, supportive, and heart-centered spaces through the living essence of water, movement & sound frequency.
The approach of Muara WaterSounds is deeply rooted and inspired by the rhythms and flow of Indonesian land and sea-scapes; as a way of honouring our indigenous heritage.
We grew up with diverse backgrounds, spanning both the East and West. And had experienced living, studying and travelling in Indonesia and globally. This has deepen & broaden our perspective and ability to craft these unique, multi-dimensional journeys that create a space for you to be accepted as you are.
We’re trained in Healing Dance Aquatic Bodywork, Sound Healing, Qi Gong, Dance and Transpersonal Counselling.

(( mu • á‧rá ))
Muara symbolises the liminal space, a place within the threshold of changes. It is a place where fresh and salt waters meet, in which smaller bodies of water such as rivers converge into larger ones like lakes or oceans. It is the transition zone between land and sea.
For us, it is also a meeting point and melting pot of many elements. Where sound frequencies and somatic movements meet the primordial waters.
It reflects on the amalgamation of contrasts and the possibility for harmony and acceptance regardless of opposites, the interplay of multitude creativity that travels beyond known time & space.
Muara journeys are designed to be a multilayered experience touching the aspects of mind, body, spirit.

Why through water, sound & movement?
Water
Water symbolises the source of life & carries the memory of our human beginnings. The warm water in particular reminds us of the first 9 months of our life; being a fetus cradled in the warm womb of our mother.
It feels natural that we feel at ease and supported to unwind tension and surrender into the flow of the water.
Sound
Sound vibrations acts as a universal language. Sound in the form of music has the power to bypass the logical parts of our brain and stimulate memories & responses that can reveal what is hidden in our subconscious.
Movement
Movement as our first language, gives us the ability to tap into parts of ourselves that are hidden and inaccessible by words alone.
Authentic & free form movement offers an organic path to express and process our inner landscapes and transform them into a form of art and creative expression.
