Muara symbolises the liminal space, a place within the threshold of changes. It is a place where fresh and salt waters meet, in which smaller bodies of water such as rivers converge into larger ones like lakes or oceans. It is the transition zone between land and sea.
For us, it is also a meeting point and melting pot of many elements. Where sound frequencies and somatic movements meet the primordial waters.
It reflects on the amalgamation of contrasts and the possibility for harmony and acceptance regardless of opposites, the interplay of multitude creativity that travels beyond known time & space.
Muara journeys are designed to be a multilayered experience touching the aspects of mind, body, spirit.
Muara offers heart-centered warm water, sound and movement journey— woven with a transpersonal approach to reconnect you to your innermost self.
Founded by Anika Gunawan and Nathania Lubis, Muara takes its name from the Indonesian word for estuary— where many rivers meet the ocean. A meeting point of convergence and transformation, where different paths meet, flow and evolve.
The spirit of Muara is deeply rooted in the rhythm and flow of Indonesia’ s land and sea-scapes, honouring the living essence of their indigenous heritage.
Between Indonesia and the wider world, Anika and Nathania have lived at the crossing of many cultures. This cross-pollination runs deep in their practice — grounded in where they come from, expanded by where they’ve been, and at ease with layers of complexity.
Their combined training spans aquatic bodywork, sound healing, Qi Gong, dance & interdisciplinary arts, meditation and transpersonal counselling.
